Stobhill Hospital now has late evening buses and Sunday journeys from Glasgow city centre. First Glasgow’s 128 and JMB Travel’s 329 added services on Sunday 1 November, an implementation date rather than a press-release promise politely waiting for next year.

The 128 runs through Possilpark. Its weekday timetable now carries Buchanan bus station departures as late as 10.40pm, reaching Stobhill at 11.08pm, with a return leaving the hospital at 11.10pm. Sunday service has also begun. The Inspector has measured the development and confirms that hospitals remain open after teatime.

The 329 serves Roystonhill and Springburn. Its added evening trips leave the city at 7.11pm, 8.11pm, 9.11pm and 10.11pm, with the last return reaching Buchanan bus station at 11.09pm. This is the sort of timetable detail that turns “better connections” from a phrase on a lectern into a bus somebody can actually catch.

On Monday 2 November, McGill’s new 540 will connect Gourock railway station directly with Inverclyde Royal Hospital via Midton. It is scheduled up to every 40 minutes from Monday to Saturday, with a journey of roughly 17 minutes. The first Gourock departure is 7.15am and the last is 6.25pm. Clipboard satisfied.

There is a time limit attached. The routes are supported through the Scottish Government’s Transport to Employment programme, with the Stobhill funding scheduled only until 27 March 2027 and no continuation confirmed. McGill’s describes the 540 as an initial 21-week service. Usefulness has finally arrived at the stop; long-term certainty is still checking the funding application.
